What is a bedside cot?

A bedside crib, also known as a bassinet or co-sleeper is a baby cot that is attached to an adult bed. This allows your child to sleep next to you in safety. This is a secure form of co-sleeping and doesn't increase the risk of SIDS like bedsharing. It can also help you bond with the newborn baby.

The cots come with a side which can be lowered so that you can reach your baby easily in the nighttime to comfort them and feed them. This is particularly useful for mothers who are recovering from a csection. Many are portable or foldable making them suitable for travel and as an interim solution for babies that aren't yet ready to be able to transition to a larger crib.

Choose a crib that has a mattress that is breathable, as well as an extra-safe cover that will protect your baby from stains. You may also want to purchase baby-safe items such as a blanket or teether.

If you are seeking a long-term solution, some cribs come with conversion kits that allow you to transform them into a toddler bed or cot when the time is right. This will extend their life and make the transition smoother. Some models have a removable portion at the top that can be transformed into a bassinet. Other models can be used in conjunction with a standard adult bed or a high-rise bed. This is an excellent choice for families who plan to travel frequently or change between bedrooms at night. Consider the size of your bedroom to ensure that you fit comfortably in the crib. A lot of cribs have an riser that can be used to create an inclined position for babies who suffer from reflux.

She was pleased that it didn't move like other models, which meant she wasn't disturbed at night while trying to comfort her child during feedings. She also enjoyed the fact that the side could be lowered so she didn't have to reach over her partner to carry the baby out for feedings at night.

The CoZee is available in charcoal and oak and is a chic addition to the bedroom. It's more of a designer piece than some of the other cribs that we've tested, which can appear rather utilitarian. It's also relatively lightweight at 11kg and comes with a carrying case which allows you to take it away on holidays or if you're moving house. You only need to purchase an waterproof sheet and a safety strap for sleeping together. The Maxi-Cosi Lora

The Iora is a bedside bassinet that helps parents feel closer to their child while they sleep. It adjusts up and down and slides through three positions to fit beside the bed of the parent or in the corner of the room so that baby is always close to the parent's side. The breathable mesh siding allows air to flow through, and lets you glance at your little one. You can also store additional pajamas or other items in the large basket underneath.

In contrast to other bedside cribs The Iora folds flat and comes with a bag for travel to allow it to be carried anywhere. Our mum testers found it easy to move from room to room and felt it was a great size for a small bedside cot, and not too big or small.  bedside cot sale  is great to store extra bedding or nappies.

This is a great option for parents who want to sleep in a co-sleeping arrangement but do not want to share their own beds, or whose partners might be prone to mobility issues, such as arthritis or back issues. Our mums who tested it loved that they could easily access their baby while in the Iora and that it included an optional reflux incline that helped to reduce gas.

Our mothers are also thrilled that it complies with NICE guidelines that state to put the infant in the crib or Moses basket on its own (with no toys, blankets, pillows, etc). The mattress is also sturdy and comfortable for babies and sheets are readily available. It's not as light as other smaller bedside cribs, though, so if you want something lighter and easier to move around, think about one of the alternatives on our list.
